YESTERSHADES

Come see my work at America's Largest Antique & Collectible Show in July 2007, at the Portland Expo Center, sponsored by Palmer Wirfs & Associates.

Welcome to Yestershades.
My shades follow the traditions of the early 1900’s. Twenty-seven years ago I haunted the archives of the local libraries in search of books and periodicals that would allow me glimpses into how they were created. Taking that knowledge, (along with dismantling a few antique shades) I slowly developed the ability to recreate what was almost a lost art, using the designers of a century ago as my teachers.

I use the finest materials, combining silks, chiffons, velvets, vintage fabrics and laces, as well as beads and thick silky variegated fringes. They are hand-dyed as well as hand-sewn, and then decorated with detailed pleating, rosettes, beads and antique bits and pieces.

My work is known around the country as authentic recreations hardly discernable from the originals with the attention to aged coloring and authentic detailing. I've been honored by having been published in both books, newspapers, magazine articles, and a Woody Allen movie. The latest write-up done on my work can be found in the May 2005 issue of "Old House Interiors," written by Steve Austin.

My purpose is to design shades that are true to their period but also fit my customers needs. Period lampshades are becoming an important part of gracious living. I would love the opportunity to create yours.
